‎What sports are offered at the middle school level?

Soccer, Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Track and Spirit Cheerleading

Do I need a physical to participate on an athletic team?

Yes, you must have a current physical to participate in practice or competition. Physicals are good for one calendar year. A student-athlete must get a new physical every year.

Are 6th Graders eligible to play?

Yes but playing time is not mandatory

What are the eligibility requirements for students to play middle school sports?

Students must maintain good academic standing throughout the course of the year. Any students receiving more than two F’s during any semester will be ineligible for the following semester.

Can a waiver be signed by a parent in order for a child to participate in extracurricular activities/sports?

No, a parent cannot waive the pre-participation physical requirement

Does every student athlete have to have proof of insurance before participating in any sports, tryouts, training, workouts, etc?

Yes

Can I buy insurance through the school district?

Can 6th graders participate in Middle School Sports?

Yes

“My child will not be able to get a physical until after the try-out date. Can he try-out as long as we get it next week?”

No, a student must have a physical in order to be eligible to try-out for any sport.

Am I expected to attend all practices and games?

Yes. Absences may impact student-athlete’s playing time. Student-athletes are expected to contact their coach directly if they will miss any practices/games. Excessive absences may cause the student-athlete to be removed from the team.

How many days a week do teams practice/play?

Most teams practice and/or play 5-6 days a week, including Saturdays. Practices take place after school. (Saturday practices are optional) Most practices last between 1.5 – 2 hours. Saturday practices may last up to 2.5 hours.

Does everyone make the team?

We have a large number of students who try out for our athletic teams, so unfortunately not everyone can be selected to make the team.
