The millage rate for 2022 will be set at a meeting in the Board Room on the 1st floor of the Board of Education at 2960 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

By state law, local taxing authorities, such as MCSD, must either keep their tax collections revenue-neutral (by decreasing the millage rate to offset the gained taxes from the property value updates) or announce a tax increase (even though the actual millage rate is not increasing). The Board is considering adopting a millage rate of 23.321, a rate unchanged from FY2022, but 1.652 mills higher than the rollback rate of 21.669 mills. At the tentative rate, 7.62% more revenue will be generated for FY 2023, requiring the announcement of a proposed property tax increase. However, taxpayers whose property values have not increased will see no increase in their school tax bill.

The Board has determined that this proposed mill levy is necessary to provide the resources needed for all students to achieve as we continue in our efforts to be a premier school district.

A copy of the budget along with the 5 Year Tax Digest and M&O Levy History are available for public review on the District’s website at www.muscogee.k12.ga.us or through the MSCD Division of Financial Services.
