Two MCSD students earned high honors in the Georgia PTA Reflections program and were recognized by the Board in the April Board meeting. They were presented by Dr. Gary Gibson, Chief Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.
First Place - Marisha Spann, sixth grade at Fort
Second Place - Nicolas Duncan, sixth grade at Veterans Memorial
In Georgia, over 29,000 students participated. In MCSD, 22 schools participated, with 1,400 entries received from students. Of those, 75 entries were sent to the state-level competition. Jan Carter of Columbus High is the district coordinator of the local PTA Reflections program.
The National PTA Reflections program is an arts recognition program that provides children in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 with the opportunity to express themselves through the arts. Now in its 41st year, the Reflections program attracts an average of 700,000 participants from across the country. Students have the opportunity to enter in any of six areas: literature, musical composition, photography, visual art, dance choreography, and film/video production.
