2024 E-SPLOST Renewal
What is E-SPLOST?
The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for Education (E-SPLOST) is a one- penny sales tax that Georgia school systems may use for capital improvements and/or long-term debt reduction from previous bonds.
The one-penny sales tax is paid by all who shop, dine or receive services in Muscogee County, including outside visitors.
- E-SPLOST funds may be used for capital projects (building new facilities, renovating existing structures, etc.), improving school bus fleets, upgrading HVAC systems, and paying debt from previous projects.
- E-SPLOST funds cannot be used to pay operating expenses, such as staff salaries, raises, bonuses, etc.
- E-SPLOST is not a property tax. Property taxes help meet the day-to-day operational needs of the district, including maintenance/operations of facilities and instructional school improvements.
- E-SPLOST is a ballot referendum which lasts up to five years or until the max amount is collected, whichever comes first.

This initiative will impact all campuses. We will utilize the Five D's of Security with an emphasis on Deter, Detect, Deny and Delay.
