The MCSD Department of Fine Arts guarantees elementary students' access to visual art and music programs by adhering to the Georgia Department of Education: Fine Arts Standard of Excellence and the utilization of their comprehensive resources. Moreover, middle and high school students also have access to programs encompassing visual arts, band, dance, chorus, orchestra, media arts, and theater programs by adhering to the Georgia Department of Education: Fine Arts Standard of Excellence and the utilization of their comprehensive resources. Additionally, MCSD has two arts-based schools: Wynnton Arts Academy and Rainey-McCullers School of the Arts that offer extended opportunities in the arts.
The MCSD Fine Arts program core actions are:
➢ We advocate that the arts are an inherent and vital part of how each student learns and evolves throughout their academic career.
➢ We advance the self and collective efficacy of MCSD art educators through comprehensive professional development that integrates relevant technology and offers rich arts-based content centered on intellectual, social, and emotional advancement for all students.
➢ We provide a variety of supplementary arts opportunities for all students, families, and community partners equitably and consistently.
➢ We create meaningful experiences that grow student confidence, intelligence, and expression in performing, creating, and benefiting from the arts.
