Magnet Programs

General Information

General Information

  • Muscogee County School District offers magnet programs within schools that offer a wide variety of concentrated studies.

    Elementary School
Each of the elementary school magnets within the district has a unique instructional emphasis. Students must meet eligibility requirements to enroll in any of the magnet academies. The magnets are designed to provide an enriched learning experience for students in addition to the traditional elementary school curriculum. To remain in the magnet programs, students must meet expectations as established by each individual school in their continuation protocols.

    Middle School
Students interested in middle school magnet programs offered by MCSD will be required to meet minimum academic and behavioral standards as established by each individual magnet program. Certain magnet programs may require the student to sign a contract prior to selection and participation. Individual schools will publish standards for remaining in their program.

    High School
Each of the High School Magnet and Academy Programs is designed to provide an enriched learning experience for students in addition to the traditional high school curriculum. For more information on entrance requirements and space availability please contact the magnet schools directly.

Magnet Programs

Open House sessions for elementary school, middle school and high school magnet programs are scheduled throughout the fall. Parents and students will have the opportunity to learn about the different magnet programs, the application process, and requirements at these open house sessions. All prospective students are required to apply online and complete entrance criteria when the Online Magnet Application Process opens (Fall for elementary and secondary schools).

Out-of-county and out-of-state students are not eligible to attend Columbus High School Liberal Arts Magnet, Rainey-McCullers School of Arts, Britt David Magnet Academy, or Downtown Magnet Academy. There is an exception for Muscogee County School District employees.  If accepted, the child of the employee is eligible to attend a full magnet program.
