Academic Competitions And Recognitions - Picture Book Reading Bowl
General Information
In 2022, Muscogee County kicked off our very own district-based Picture Book Reading Bowl competition for grades kindergarten through third.
Similar to Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl, this is an initiative to increase student achievement and reading comprehension, help students develop a deeper appreciation for literature, enhance verbal communication skills, promote cooperation, build self-esteem, and develop team spirit. This competition also prepares students to participate in next levels of competition.
Students read all 20 books on the Georgia Book Awards Picture Book Nominees list and participate in school practices with their team. During the competition, students are tested on their knowledge of the books in a quiz bowl format. The competition will take place in January.
For further information, please contact the school-based Picture Book Reading Bowl coach.
